About this type of artwork
I really enjoy undertaking private commission works, not only because
I enjoy the excitement of not knowing what I'm going to be asked to paint, but because I love challenges and creating something for somebody that will be coveted for life.
Creating a special image through commissioned artwork means so much more than taking a photograph - I am an avid photographer, and respect it as a discipline, but we live in a time when digital photography means that there are thousands of images taken of just about everything, and much of it is placed on the internet.
A commissioned artwork is unique!
Whilst also immensely humbling, it is hugely exciting and a great honour to be asked to paint a portrait.
Be it bringing out the personality in animals or depicting the unique detail in other subjects, it is both a challenge and a thrill.
I can honestly say that this aspect of my work has also brought me the most pleasure through being able to provide something personal that people love.
There is also a huge sense of fulfilment upon hearing about, receiving feedback or on occasion actually witnessing first hand the reaction of those receiving the artwork.
Value
Taking the decision to commission a piece of work says a lot about you.
Not only does it identify you as someone who thinks about what they present to others, it shows that you care. You won't just settle for some bland generic offering as a present - one which is available to all and sundry. No! You have style and care about those special to you.
Be they loved ones, work colleagues, clients or Pam down the fish and chip shop (who just may be a loved one, work colleague and client!), there is nothing as meaningful as having a bespoke artwork commissioned.
